Fibromyalgia is a chronic condition that causes widespread musculoskeletal pain, fatigue, sleep, memory, mood and digestive problems. Symptoms may occur rather suddenly after a life event involving trauma, surgery, an infection or stress. However, in some cases symptoms occur gradually accumulating over time with no single event triggering this condition. Currently it is believed that fibromyalgia affects the way the brain and spinal cord process pain and non-pain signals by developing memory of pain and then becoming highly sensitized to pain and non-pain signals.
Causes of Fibromyalgia
- Genetics: fibromyalgia tends to run in families and affects twice as many women as men
- Infections: some illnesses may trigger fibromyalgia
- Physical or emotional trauma: a physical event such as an auto accident, a psychological event such as prolonged stress
- Having other disorders: rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis and lupus may cause the development of fibromyalgia

When ozone (O3) gas is introduced into the body it acts by exerting a mild transient and controlled oxidative stress to better balance free radicals, it also promotes an up-regulation of antioxidants within the body. In addition, ozone (O3) simultaneously activates many metabolic pathways, kills pathogens, improves circulation and increases oxygen within muscle tissue.
One study found a remarkable 70% improvement in excess of 50% of symptoms with no significant reported side effects, another study noted an outstanding 80% improvement in symptoms. This is very promising as there is currently no cure for fibromyalgia. Moreover, studies have shown a decrease in depressive symptoms of fibromyalgia after receiving multiple sessions of ozone therapy.
